BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's and women's track and field teams had several top five finishers at the Sewanee Indoor Track and Field Invitational Saturday against programs from the NAIA and NCAA Divisions II and III. The women finished third and the men placed fourth.
"Extremely proud of our athletes today," said Head Coach Kenneth Cox. "We had strong performances from everyone and we will continue to improve."
Alexus Lindsey (Holly Pond, Ala./Fairview HS) took first in the 55m hurdles, crossing in 9.39 seconds. Kamryn Bendolph (Madison, Ala./Columbia HS) set a new personal record in the 400m dash. She finished in 1:02.75 to earn second place. Also taking second in their respective event was Marjorie Head (Columbiana, Ala./Shelby County HS) in the mile. Monasia Taylor (Lawrenceville, Ga./Archer HS) set a new personal record in the 55m dash. She placed third with a time of 7.46 seconds.
On the men's side, Jordan Jones (Powder Springs, Ga./Hiram HS) set personal records in both the long and triple jumps. He tied for second in the long jump at 6.56m. His distance of 13.18m in the triple jump was good for second place and 0.66m further than the third place finisher.
BSC returns to the Birmingham CrossPlex on Monday, Feb. 11 as they host the 'Southern Indoor Challenge.
