Women's Basketball falls to Millsaps on the road, 64-42

JACKSON, Miss.—Plagued by shooting woes, the Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team lost on the road to Millsaps, 64-42, Saturday afternoon in Jackson, Miss.

The Panthers fall to 2-5, while the Majors move to 2-4.

After playing to a 7-7 tie by the 10:03 mark of the first half, Millsaps used a 14-2 run to pull up 21-9 with two minutes left in the half. The Majors led 22-14 at halftime, and kept a comfortable lead for the entire second half, eventually winning by 22.

Senior Melanie Short led BSC with 10 points and was the only Panther in double digits. Senior Alex Adams led with seven rebounds, and freshman Kelsey Brown led with four assists.

BSC shot 12-45 (.267) from the field and 2-16 (.125) from three-point range while shooting 16-21 (.762) from the free throw line. Millsaps fared much better, hitting 26-64 (.406) overall and 9-22 (.409) from beyond the arc. The Majors shot 3-5 (.600) at the line.

The Panthers out-rebounded the Majors, 38-33, but also doubled Millsaps' turnovers with 18.

BSC is on the road this Tuesday, traveling south to face Mobile at 6 p.m.
