BSC falls to Piedmont, 76-60

DEMOREST, Ga.—The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team dropped its third straight game Monday evening, losing to Piedmont in the Cancer Awareness Tournament, 76-60.

The Panthers fell to 5-5, while the Lions moved to 6-1. BSC will face Salem College at 5 p.m. ET in tomorrow's consolation game.

Piedmont scored the first basket of the game, a three-pointer, and would never trail at any point. The closest the Panthers would come after that was cutting it to 16-15 at the 10:51 mark, after which the Lions responded with a 20-4 run to pull ahead 36-19 and then led 42-25 at the half.

The closest BSC came in the second half was cutting the lead to nine, 47-38, at the 15:30 mark. The Lions used several scoring bursts to build the lead back up, leading by as much as 19, 67-48, with 6:12 left in the game before winning 76-60.

Junior Halle Knowles and sophomore Breanne DeBaets led with 14 points apiece, and senior Kayla Ford added 10 points. Knowles also led the team with eight rebounds.
