BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team came from behind and fended off a late rally from Southern Athletic Association rival Sewanee Friday night to win 53-50 in Bill Battle Coliseum. BSC (7-11, 4-2 SAA) has won four straight in conference play.
The Panthers were led by Emilee Olsen (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter HS) and Derienne Black (Madison, Ala./Sparkman HS). The pair combined for 34 points. Olsen was one rebound shy of a double-double but grabbed a game-high nine rebounds to go with her game-highs of three blocks and two steals.
BSC remains at home as the Panthers take on Centre College this Sunday in a doubleheader with the men's team. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
