Women's Golf beats No. 25 Rhodes in dual match

ROME, Ga.—Led by junior Rachelle Struthers, the No. 15 Birmingham-Southern women's golf team defeated No. 25 Rhodes College in a dual match, Sunday in Rome, Ga.

Struthers hit 82 for the round, followed by senior Jennifer Commander with 83, freshman Meredith Wollenman with 85, sophomore Ellen Chun with 88, and sophomore Kaleigh Toole with 90.

"It was good to start the season out with a win," Head Coach Casey Smith said. "I was especially pleased with the play of some of our less experienced players, who stepped up and played well. We were missing some of our top returning players - Katie Skeeles is out due to an injury, but will be back later this month to boost our lineup. We were also missing Michele Morris who is studying abroad in New Zealand this fall. We definitely have a long way to go to reach our potential, but it was a good starting point for our team."

The Panthers are back on the links on Sept. 25 at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala.
