No. 8 Centre wins 2013 SAA Women's Golf Championship
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--The No. 8 Centre College women's golf team won the inaugural Southern Athletic Association Championship on Sunday, shooting 309 for a three-round total of 935 at Highland Lake Golf Course in Birmingham, Ala.
Host Birmingham-Southern placed second with 942, just seven strokes back from the Colonels. Rhodes placed third with 970, Sewanee was fourth with 987, and Oglethorpe was fifth with 1,006.
Sewanee's Emily Javadi was the individual champion with a three-round total of 223 (77-73-73). Second place was a tie between BSC freshman Sarah Dolmovich (85-71-73) and Centre's Alyssa Brown (79-74-76) with 229, followed by BSC freshman Jesse Lawley at fourth with 231 (76-76-79) and Centre's Allison Hancock at fifth with 232 (76-82-74).
The top 10 individuals earned All-Conference honors, including Dolmovich and Lawley from BSC, and junior Kaleigh Toole was also added to the All-SAA team as a Pre-Conference selection for her strong play throughout the regular season.
