SANDESTIN, Fla. – The Birmingham-Southern women's golf team placed 12th among 16 teams at the 2017 Golfweek D3 Fall Invitational on Tuesday.
The Panthers, who shot 993 as a team, finished 129-over. Collectively, BSC shot 332 in each of the opening two rounds before capping off the tournament with a 329 in the final round on Tuesday.
Junior Sarah Moon (Cordova, Tenn./St. George's Independent School) was BSC's top golfer for the tournament shooting 22-over, good enough for a top 20 finish. Moon, tied for 18th, shot an 82 in round one before improving to shoot 78 in the second and final rounds.
Washington University in St. Louis was the 2017 Golfweek D3 Fall Invitational champion, finishing the tournament with a three-round total of 912. The Bears ran away with the win, beating out the second place team Huntingdon College by 33 strokes.
Up next for Birmingham-Southern is the Berry/Chick-fil-A Invite at Coosa Country Club in Rome, Ga., on Oct. 22-24. The Chick-fil-A Invite is the last scheduled tournament for the women's golf team this fall before the spring season starts in March.
