PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – The Birmingham-Southern women's golf team placed sixth overall the 2019 D3 National Preview tournament at PGA National Palmer on Sunday.
As a team, BSC shot a three-round 976 to finish at 112-over for the weekend.
The Panthers were led by senior Sarah Posey (Covington, Tenn./First Assembly Christian School), who finished in third place. Posey shot rounds of 76, 73 and 79 to end her tournament at 12-over par, seven shots off the leader.
Junior Emma Phillips (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood HS) also had a good tournament, finishing tied for fourth place. She was 13-over for the tournament after rounds of 81, 72 and 76.
BSC's three other golfers competing in the D3 Preview were Alexis Chambers (Ft. Payne, Ala./Ft. Payne HS), Madison Dalton (Canton, Ga./Woodstock HS) and Chanel Gonzalez (Miami, Fla./Young Women's Prep Academy).
Chambers finished tied for 37th, shooting a three-round 251. Dalton ended her tournament in 60th and Gonzalez finished 68th.
Birmingham-Southern's next tournament will be Sept. 27-29 at the MCC Women's Intercollegiate in Montgomery, Ala.
