MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's golf team placed sixth out of 12 teams at the 2019 Montgomery Country Club Women's Intercollegiate on Sunday.
The Panthers shot a team score of 628 to finish 52-over par for the two-round tournament. BSC has finished sixth in both of its tournaments so far.
Junior Emma Phillips (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood HS) was the Panthers' top golfer in the tournament, tying for 12th overall. Phillips shot a 76 in round one and a 77 in the final round to finish 9-over par. She had five birdies over 36 holes played.
Senior Sarah Posey (Covington, Tenn./First Assembly Christian School) also finished inside the top 20, tying for 17th overall. Posey shot rounds of 80 and 77 to finish 13-over for the tournament.
Junior Alexis Chambers (Ft. Payne, Ala./Ft. Payne HS) and senior Madison Dalton (Canton, Ga./Woodstock HS) both tied for 26th at 15-over par. Chambers had rounds of 82 and 77 while Dalton shot a 79 and an 80.
Birmingham-Southern, which is ranked No. 32 in Golfstat.com rankings and receiving votes in the latest Women's Golf Coaches Association poll, will travel to Sandestin, Fla., for the D3 Golfweek Preview Oct. 12-15.
