ROME, Ga.—The Birmingham-Southern women's lacrosse team lost on the road to Berry College, 23-10, Tuesday afternoon in Rome, Ga.
BSC falls to 7-5, while the Vikings move to 8-4-1.
Berry scored the game's first three goals and jumped out to a 6-1 lead less than 12 minutes into the game. By halftime, the Vikings led 11-5.
BSC scored the first two goals of the second half to pull to within 11-7 with 26:25 remaining in the game, but Berry then erupted for nine consecutive goals, including three by Elizabeth Flatt in a span of 2:45, to take control of the game for good.
Berry rattled off 53 shots in the game, 30 more than BSC attempted.
Senior Chelsea Van Voorhis led the Panthers with five goals, followed by junior Stephanie Gore with three goals. Sophomore Madeline Golden led with nine draw controls, and freshman Laurel Sheron led with four ground balls. Senior goalkeeper Katie Bates recorded an impressive 18 saves.
The Panthers are off for over a week now, with their next game scheduled for Friday, April 20, at Sewanee.
