BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's lacrosse team strolled to an 18-3 home win over Southern Athletic Association rival Berry College on Friday night.
The win gave BSC its first conference win of the season, improving the Panthers to 1-2 in the SAA.
Senior Katie Gleeson (Franklin, Tenn./Franklin HS) led the Panthers offensively, scoring a season-high five goals. She added an assist, as well, to give her six points for the game.
Six other Panthers scored against the Vikings, too, including BSC's leading goal-scorer for the year, Jade Cox (Rome, Ga./Darlington School), who had four goals in the game.
Defensively, BSC forced 12 turnovers, limited the Vikings to just seven shots and pressured Berry in its own half for most of the game. Cox had a team-high seven caused turnovers.
Sophomore goalie Alexus Howard (Spring Hill, Tenn./Franklin HS) finished the game with two saves.
With the win, the Panthers improve to 3-5 overall. Birmingham-Southern will travel to Southwestern for its next match on Friday, March 15.
