Panthers Stumble at Home Against Bees

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's lacrosse team was defeated 24-7 by the Savannah College of Art and Design Bees on Saturday afternoon.

Junior Jade Cox (Rome, Ga./Darlington School) led the Panthers offensively in the loss, scoring four goals and assisting on another. Cox's second goal of the game, which came with 15:55 to go in the first half, was her 150th career goal.

Senior Katie Gleeson (Franklin, Tenn./Franklin HS) scored two goals and freshman Lizzie LaVangie (Jacksonville, Fla./Darlington School) scored one goal to round out the scoring for BSC.

Defensively, Gleeson had three caused turnovers and sophomore Carly Gainey (Peachtree City, Ga./Starr's Mill HS) led the team with five forced turnovers. Sophomore goalie Alexus Howard (Spring Hill, Tenn./Franklin HS) finished the game with 13 saves.

With the loss, Birmingham-Southern drops to 4-7 on the year. The Panthers will travel to Huntingdon for their next game on Wednesday, March 27.
