Women's Soccer comes from behind to beat Covenant College, 2-1
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The BSC women's soccer team played its final home game this evening and
came from behind to defeat Covenant College, 2-1. The Panthers move to 11-7 with the win, and wrap up the 2010 season on the road this Saturday at Berry College at noon.
While the first half was scoreless, Covenant found the back of the net in the 58th minute when Lauren Probst collected a rebounded saved shot by Caitlin Ezell to put the Lady Scots up 1-0.
BSC finally scored the equalizer in the 80th minute when junior Alicia Plotky got her 13th goal of the season, assisted by junior Linda Amaya and freshman Amanda Babbin, who sent a corner kick into the box.
Freshman Jamie Sullivan scored the game-winner for the Panthers in the 85th minute, assisted by junior Emmy Hollis.
Freshman goalkeeper Richelle Byrd played all 90 minutes for BSC and recorded one save. Bethany Holman was much busier for the Lady Scots, recording 12 saves.
Plotky led the Panthers with nine of their 24 shots, seven of those on-goal, while Probst led Covenant with two of its five shots.
"I am extremely proud of the total team effort from start to finish," Head Coach Benji Walton said. "For us to come back under those circumstances late in the game is a huge pick-up for our team. Hopefully this momentum will carry with us into Saturday's tough game against Berry."
