Women's Soccer opens conference play with 1-0 victory over Dallas

Head Coach Benji Walton, senior Alicia Plotky, and BSC President General Charles Krulak

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Courtesy of a goal from sophomore Amanda Babbin in the 39th minute, the Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team defeated University of Dallas, 1-0, Friday evening at BSC Soccer Park.

The Panthers move to 4-3-1, while the Crusaders fall to 8-3.

Babbin collected a feed from the middle from sophomore Jamie Sullivan and beat the Dallas defender to goal, where she found the back of the net for her second goal of the season.

The Panthers out-shot the Crusaders, 16-6, and 6-2 on-goal. Senior Linda Amaya led with five shots, two on-goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Richelle Byrd made two saves for the Panthers.

BSC is at home again on Sunday, taking on Austin College at 11 a.m.

Prior to tonight's game, BSC President General Charles Krulak presented senior Alicia Plotky with a commemorative plate honoring her achievement of becoming BSC's all-time points leader. She owns 100 career points and is the only player in program history to hit that milestone.
