Amaya scores both of BSC's goals in 2-0 victory over Millsaps

JACKSON, Miss.—Playing in her hometown of Jackson, Miss., senior Linda Amaya scored both goals in the Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team's 2-0 victory against Millsaps College, Friday evening.

The Panthers now stand at 7-4-1 overall and 3-1 in the SCAC.

Amaya scored the first goal in the 12th minute off a corner kick by sophomore M'Kayl Lewis. The second goal would come in the 56th minute when she headed the ball into the net off an assist from sophomore Jamie Sullivan.

BSC out-shot Millsaps 21-5 overall and 14-1 on-goal. The Panthers took 13 corner kicks while the Majors had three.

Senior goalkeeper Amber Hernandez played all 90 minutes in goal and made one save. Millsaps keeper Molly Beth Jourdan recorded 12 saves.

The Panthers are in action again on Sunday, facing Rhodes College at noon in Memphis, Tenn.
