DANVILLE, Ky.—The Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team fell to Rhodes College, 3-2, in the semifinals of the Southern Athletic Association Championship, Saturday, at Centre College in Danville, Ky.
The Panthers end the season at 12-6-1.
BSC lit up the scoreboard early with an unassisted goal by junior Amanda Babbin only 27 seconds into the contest, and held the Lynx scoreless on the strength of three saves by junior keeper Richelle Byrd until the 17:26 mark of the first half, when Rhodes' Heidi Press scored from the outside corner to tie it up 1-1.
The Lynx would go on to score twice more, in the 62nd and 68th minutes, to increase their lead to 3-2. BSC junior Jamie Sullivan scored in the 75th minute on a penalty kick to cut the lead to 3-2, but the Panthers were unable to score again in the final 15 minutes.
Rhodes out-shot BSC 15-12, 9-7 on-goal. Babbin led the Panthers with three shots. Byrd recorded six total saves in 90 minutes.
