Choate Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Recognition

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern women's soccer student-athlete Abby Kay Choate (Tifton, Ga./Tift County HS) was named to the 2019 College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) Division III Women's Soccer Athletic All-District First Team, the organization announced on Thursday.

Choate, a junior accounting major, has made a mark on the field and in the classroom at Birmingham-Southern. Choate has a cumulative 3.98 GPA at 'Southern, far above the minimum 3.3 GPA needed to be eligible.

On the field this season, the midfielder finished with five goals and five assists for the Panthers. Her five goals were third-most on the team and her assist tally was ranked second on the team and seventh in the league. Choate also has one Southern Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week award to her name this year.

As a member of the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, Choate is in the running to become a CoSIDA Academic All-American. CoSIDA will its Academic All-America teams in early December.
