Women's Tennis falls to Berry in SAA semifinals

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—The Birmingham-Southern women's tennis team ended its season Saturday with a 5-4 loss to Berry College in the semifinals of the 2014 Southern Athletic Association Championship at Old Fort Park in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

The second-seeded Panthers fall to 12-4, while the third-seeded Vikings move to 17-1 and will face top-seeded Sewanee tomorrow at 9 a.m.

BSC won at one doubles, with senior Moya Moore and sophomore Sara Cohen teaming up to win 8-4, and Moore also won at one singles. Senior Emily Holst was victorious at three singles, and freshman Mary Evelyn Carroll won at four singles.

Carroll ends the season with a team-best 14-2 singles mark, while senior Terria Punturo and sophomore Lindsey Farrell, as well as Moore and Cohen, combined to go 11-3 in doubles play to lead the Panthers.
