Panthers Defeat Rhodes 7-2 on Senior Day

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's tennis team finished the regular season in third place in the Southern Athletic Association after defeating Rhodes College 7-2 Sunday morning. BSC (12-5) went 5-2 in conference play.

 

Virginia Hammond (Chattanooga, Tenn./Girls Preparatory School) and Isabella Wisener (Horton, Ala./Douglas HS) finished with two wins each.  The pair won 8-0 at No. 2 doubles before picking up singles wins.  Hammond defeated her No. 4 opponent 6-0, 6-1, and Wisener won 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 3 position.  For the second match in a row, Lexie Dillard (Jasper, Ala./Walker HS) and Alana Owens (Mableton, Ga./Riverwood International Charter School) didn't give up a single game at No. 3 doubles, winning 8-0.

 

The Panthers now prepare for the SAA Tournament, which runs April 20-22 in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
