|Title:||Head Women's Tennis Coach/Senior Women's Administrator|
Ann Dielen enters her 37th season as head coach of the BSC tennis program. The BSC program was re-established in 1977, and since that time Dielen has guided the Panthers to unprecedented levels, including a record numberof national championship appearances. Dielen also serves as BSC's Senior Women’s Administrator (SWA).
Under Dielen's direction, the women's team participated in the NAIA National Championships every year from the tournament's inception in 1980 until BSC's final NAIA membership season in 2001. No other program can boast this impressive feat. The men's team, which was under Dielen's guidance until turning it over to former assistant Brian Rahaley, was equally successful, reaching the national tournament 19 of 24 seasons.
A past president of the National Tennis Association, Dielen is a seven-time NAIA District Coach of the Year award winner. In 1992, she was selected the ITA Women's Tennis Coach of the Year. Dielen is also an inductee in the Alabama Tennis Hall of Fame and was a 1997 recipient of the USTA Community Service Award.
In addition to her coaching duties, Dielen played for the Alabama Senior Cup Team and for the Southern Senior Cup Team, which finished first in national competition five straight seasons. She and doubles partner Ann Ethredge won six Doubles National Championships (1990, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997) and finished second in 1992. Dielen and Ethredge also claimed the National 40 Clay Court doubles titles in 1996 and 1998.
While studying at Georgia State University, Dielen played number six on the men's team with a three-year record of 48-13. She continued her education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she received her Bachelor of Science in education and a Master's degree in education.
She and her husband, Willy Dielen, have two children, Marie (37) and Wiel (35), and three grandchildren: Madeleine (6), Wils (5), and Quint (3).
