Women’s Tennis Earns ITA Academic Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women’s tennis team excelled in the classroom during the 2016-17 season. The Panthers earned the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team Award and saw six individuals received All-Academic Scholar-Athlete honors. This is the second consecutive year BSC has received the team award.

Winter And Spring All-Academic Honor Roll Announced

ATLANTA – The SAA announced its Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll today for the 2017 spring term and a total of 1,033 student-athletes made the list. To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 for the term and be a regular member of a varsity athletic team in a sport sponsored by the conference.

Panthers Named to SAA All-Sportsmanship Teams

ATLANTA – The Southern Athletic Association announced the 2017 Spring Sports All-Sportsmanship Teams and 79 student-athletes among the league’s eight full-time members received recognition. Formed in 2011, the SAA places a special emphasis on good sportsmanship and fair play among all competitors.

BSC Holds Annual Athletics Dinner

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern athletics department announced the winners of its big awards and recognized the accomplishments of the student-athletes at its 2017 Athletic Awards Dinner Monday night in the Norton Great Hall on BSC’s campus.

Petro Named Player of the Year, First-Team All-Conference

ATLANTA – The SAA released the 2017 Women's Tennis postseason award winners on Thursday and, after voting by the league head coaches, Carlee Petro of Birmingham-Southern claimed Player of the Year honors. Sewanee's Ellie Czura captured Newcomer of the Year while Centre's Currie Martin earned the Coach of the Year nod from his peers.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Birmingham-Southern women’s tennis team took two doubles and three singles matches to top Millsaps College 5-2 in the quarterfinals of the Southern Athletic Association Tournament Friday.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s and women’s tennis teams are traveling to the 2017 Southern Athletic Association Tournament this weekend. The Panthers are looking for redemption as both fell in the championship game to top seeded Sewanee last year. The tournament runs Friday, April 29-May 1 at Burns Park in Conway, Ark.

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Birmingham-Southern women’s tennis team dropped its last regular season Southern Athletic Association match 6-3 at Oglethorpe University Saturday. The Stormy Petrels swept doubles play to help earn the win.
