BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern volleyball team swept both Centre College and Sewanee, Saturday, in home SCAC action.
The Panthers move to 8-12 with the two wins.
BSC defeated Centre by the scores of 25-20, 25-20, 26-24. In the second set, the Panthers rallied after trailing 17-13 and out-scored the Colonels 12-3 to win the set. The third set came down to the wire, with the teams trading points most of the way but BSC eventually winning on a kill by junior Shelby Moore and then a service ace by senior Hope Harris.
Moore led with 13 kills and only one error for a .444 attack percentage, and sophomore Alex Bothe recorded 11 kills and a game-high 13 digs for a double-double. Junior setter Lauren Reibe had 37 assists, and junior libero Presley Dickson added 10 digs.
Against Sewanee, BSC won by the scores of 25-19, 25-10, 25-15. Moore led again with 13 kills and only one error, this time hitting .600. Reibe dished out 36 assists, and Dickson led with 14 digs. Bothe also recorded 10 digs.
"I thought that this was the most complete day of volleyball that we've played this season," Head Coach Judy Green said. "All day long, we served and passed the ball with a lot of confidence, and it really allowed us to have a lot of balance in our offense, which made it very difficult to defend us."
Action continues tomorrow as the Panthers face Oglethorpe at 1 p.m.
