Volleyball falls to Centre on the road, 3-0

DANVILLE, Ky.—The Birmingham-Southern volleyball team lost to Centre College on the road today in Danville, Ky., 3-0.

The loss drops the Panthers to 14-8 overall and 9-3 in the Southern Athletic Association. The Colonels move to 10-13 overall and 7-4 in league play. BSC previously defeated Centre in Bill Battle Coliseum, 3-0, on Sept. 23.

Statistics were not immediately available for today's match.

"First, I thought Centre played really well today," Head Coach Judy Green said. "They were in system way more than we were. We led big early in both of the first two sets and then relinquished the lead, and that took the wind out of our sails. We were just starting to get our rhythm last night and we sustain an unfortunate injury. All season, our team has been facing one piece of adversity after another and at some point something has to give. Yet we believe if we continue to grow from each experience we will become the best team we can be."

The Panthers return home next weekend for Homecoming 2012, facing Berry College on Friday, Oct. 19, at 6 p.m., and Oglethorpe on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m.
