Volleyball to host benefit for Stand Up to Cancer

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—During this Sunday's match against Sewanee, the Birmingham-Southern volleyball team will host a benefit for Stand Up to Cancer.

BSC has teamed up with Sewanee in its second-annual Stand Up to Cancer event, revolving around Sunday's 2 p.m. match in Bill Battle Coliseum. There will be t-shirts on sale for a minimum $10 donation, although donations of any amount are welcome.

Andrea Burke Thames will be an honorary coach for the day. She is a breast cancer survivor who is a former player for Head Coach Judy Green at Montevallo, and a former teammate of Sewanee Head Coach Shawna Laurendine.

The combined fundraising efforts will continue through Nov. 1, 2013, on the team's respective campuses. At the end of the campaign, donations will be made in both programs' names. Coach Green and Coach Laurendine and their players thank you for your support and donations to this worthy cause.
