BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern has hired Jeff White as its new Head Volleyball Coach, Athletic Director Joe Dean, Jr., announced today.
White comes to BSC after two seasons as Brenau University in Gainesville, Ga., where he coached four All-Conference and four NAIA All-Academic players. He also had 12 conference All-Academic recipients and guided the squad to 37 wins over his two seasons at the helm.
"We are very pleased to have Jeff White joining the Birmingham-Southern family," Dean said. "Jeff's record of state championships in high school and improving the program at Brenau University in only two seasons is a testament to his coaching ability. We look forward to supporting Jeff in building our program into one of championship quality."
White comes to the Hilltop with extensive coaching experience at both the high school and club team levels. Prior to his tenure at Brenau, he was Director and Head 18s Coach for the GA5 Volleyball Club in Suwanee, Ga., from 2010-2012, qualifying for the 2012 national championship. Before that, White was Head Volleyball Coach at Northview High School in Johns Creek, Ga., for seven years, where he won three state titles (2005, 2007, 2008) and coached three state Players of the Year. His record at Northview was an impressive 211-99. White also served as Director and Head 14s, 16s Coach for TCA Volleyball Club in Atlanta from 2006-2008, and was the Head 15s Coach for A5 Volleyball Club, also in Atlanta, from 2004-2005. Additionally, White served as Head Volleyball Coach at Chattahoochee High School in Alpharetta, Ga., from 1997-2001, and was the Head JV and Assistant Varsity Boy's Volleyball Coach at Westlake High School in Westlake Village, Calif., from 1996-1997.
White, a native of California, has also earned many coaching honors, being named Georgia High School Volleyball Coach of the Year in 2001, 2005, and 2008, and AJC Girl's Volleyball Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2008. He was named Region 6AAAA Girl's Volleyball Coach of the Year in 2000 and 2001, and served as Head Coach for the Georgia Girl's Senior All-Star Volleyball Matches in 2001, 2005, and 2008.
White earned his Bachelor's degree in Physical Education from California State University Northridge in 1992, and then earned his Master's in Health Studies from the University of Alabama in 2003. He is currently working toward his Ph.D. in Coach Education at the University of Georgia.
White will take his post as BSC Head Volleyball Coach on Jan. 3, 2014.
