BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – No. 21 Birmingham-Southern women's volleyball saw seven Panthers earn Southern Athletic Association All-Conference honors today. BSC (23-5) had more first and second team selections than any other program in the league.
"Tremendous honors for our team and for our program," said Head Coach Haven O'Quinn. "We are so proud to have seven of our players recognized as top players in the SAA."
Seniors Jeneva Salter (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones HS) and Marjorie Ward (Winter Park, Fla./Winter Park HS) earned first-team honors. Salter has earned first-team honors every season she competed. She ranks nationally in five categories and leads the league in total attacks and total kills. This is the first first-team nod for Ward. She has started every match this season and is among the conference leaders in aces, digs, and points.
Panthers on the second-team include juniors Milea Ray (Alabaster, Ala./Pensacola State), Julia Denby (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze HS), and Caroline Johnson (Lucas, Texas/Lovejoy HS), along with freshman Ansleigh Dailey (Daphne, Ala./Bayside Academy). Ray and Denby rank top 10 in the league in kills and points.
Johnson was phenomenal in the back row for the Panthers. She is the conference leader in total digs, out digging the reigning defensive player of the year by almost 50. Dailey led the league in assists per set and finished second in total assists as a true freshman.
Erwin was named to all-conference honorable mention. The SAA blocks leader ranks sixth nationally in total blocks and is eight in the country in blocks per set.
