ATLANTA – Birmingham-Southern volleyball opened play at the Emory National Invitational with a 3-1 win over Wittenberg University Friday afternoon. BSC improved to 20-5 with the win, marking its seventh straight 20-win season.
Milea Ray (Alabaster, Ala./Pensacola State), Alyssa Coats (Nolensville, Tenn./Nolensville HS), and Ansleigh Dailey (Daphne, Ala./Bayside Academy) earned double-doubles in the match. Ray paired a match-high 15 kills with 14 digs. Coats, who also picked up 14 digs, finished right behind Ray with 14 kills, respectively. And Dailey led the offense with a match-high 31 assists and earned 12 digs.
Defensively, the Panthers out-blocked Wittenberg 13-7, led by Rebecca Erwin (Duluth, Ga./Duluth HS) who earned eight blocks and also had 12 kills. Caroline Johnson (Lucas, Texas/Lovejoy HS) finished with a match-high 18 digs on the back line.
BSC closes out play at the Invite facing Washington and Lee, and Randolph-Macon tomorrow.
