TROY, Ala.—Senior Robert Willett finished third and freshman Kelsey Holdbrooks was eighth for the Birmingham-Southern cross country teams Saturday at the Coach O Invitational, hosted by Troy University in Troy, Ala.
Willett ran the 8K course in 27:56.41, while Holdbrooks recorded a 5K time of 21:23.85.
For the men, freshman Jordan McKnight placed third with a time of 30:12.01, junior Christian Clesi was sixth with a time of 30:22.21, sophomore Scotty Wild was 11th with a time of 31:28.14, senior David Olsen was 12th with a time of 31:32.23, and freshman John White was 16th with a time of 32:20.57.
On the women's side, freshman Katie Ann Bass finished ninth with a time of 21:33.71, sophomore Victoria Ports was 21st with a time of 23:43.87, sophomore Hallie Jordan was 23rd with a time of 24:22.78, and senior Alexa Ruiz was 40th with a time of 31:36.72.
"This meet was the perfect environment for us this weekend," Head Coach Kenneth Cox said. "With two weeks before the conference championship, the course really challenged each one of our men and women. We are excited about the way our team is coming together and looking forward to preparing ourselves mentally and physically for championships."
The Panthers' next meet is the Southern Athletic Association Cross Country Championship, Oct. 27 in Clinton, Miss.
