BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Three Birmingham-Southern women's cross country student-athletes will represent the Panthers at the 2018 NCAA Division III Cross Country South/Southeast Regional meet on Saturday morning.
Junior Marjorie Head (Columbiana, Ala./Shelby County HS), junior Megan Rasmussen (Headland, Ala./Providence Christian School) and senior Margot Woolverton (Birmingham, Ala./Vestavia HS) will participate for BSC in the regional race.
Rasmussen's last race was the UAB Blazer Classic on Oct. 12. Head and Woolverton both competed in BSC's last competition, the Southern Athletic Association Championship. Woolverton finished 36th while Head led the Panthers with a 7th-place finish to earn All-SAA Second Team honors.
"They (student-athletes) have all worked hard throughout the entire season and have been top finishers from the start of the season to the end," said head coach Kenneth Cox. "This will be a great race environment for them to compete in, and with the strength of our South/Southeast Region, we are expecting them to produce strong results."
Head, Rasmussen and Woolverton all competed in the regional last season, finishing 58th, 167th and 130th, respectively.
The meet, hosted by Berry College, will be held at the college's Clara Bowl, which was also the site of the 2016 cross country regionals. The women will start the 6k event at 11 a.m. ET.
