Head Leads Women's Cross Country at JSU Meet

OXFORD, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's cross country team competed at the Jacksonville State University Struts Cross Country Season Opener on Friday evening.

The Panthers were led by senior Marjorie Head (Columbiana, Ala./Shelby County HS), who finished the 4K race 20th overall with a time of 15:40.3.

Freshman Caroline Teal (Blountsville, Ala./Oneonta HS), senior Megan Rasmussen (Headland, Ala./Providence Christian School), sophomore Mary Emerson Owen (Baton Rouge, La./Episcopal School of Baton Rouge), and Anne Lewis Simmons (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook HS) rounded out BSC's team of five in the meet.

As a team, Birmingham-Southern finished 10th with a total time of 1:30:54.5 and an average time of 18:10.9.

The Panthers' next meet will be the Montevallo Falcon Classic in Montevallo, Ala., on Saturday, Sept. 7.
