BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern track and field opened its indoor season by hosting the 2019 BSC Indoor Icebreaker Friday at the Birmingham CrossPlex. Several Panthers had big days to start the year competing against teams from the NAIA and all three divisions of the NCAA.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior Ben Spence (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) is a power forward for the Birmingham-Southern men’s basketball team who was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. Spence was named to the Southern Athletic Association honor roll last year and played a key role for the Panthers on the court, collecting the most rebounds and steals on the team last season. He is a self-described “easy going” guy both on and off the court and always tries to keep a good attitude.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior Robert Shufford (McKenzie, Ala./McKenzie HS) of Birmingham-Southern football was named a First-Team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association. The honor made Shufford the first All-American under Head Coach Tony Joe White and first Panther to earn All-America honors since 2011.
