LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – Senior
Leah Middleton (Decatur, Ga./St. Pius XH) sunk two free throws with one second on the clock to help seal the Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team's 92-89 win over Covenant College Thursday afternoon.
Ryane Williams (Atlanta, Ga./South Forsyth HS) led with a team-high 15 points. Both Middleton and
Brooke Westhoelter (Clearwater, Fla./Calvary Christian HS) finished with 14 points each. And
Anna Beth Giles (Gadsden, Ala./Glencoe HS) rounded out the Panthers in double-digits with 10 points, respectively. Westhoelter was one rebound away from a double-double, tying for the team-high of nine with
Summer Killin (Birmingham, Ala./John Carroll Catholic HS). Middleton also snatched a game-high four steals in the win.
BSC (2-3) opens Southern Athletic Association play on Saturday, Jan. 16 when they take on Rhodes College. Tipoff in Memphis, Tenn. is set for 5 p.m.
