Rome, Ga. - The Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team is moving on to the SAA Conference Semifinals after a 4-1 win over Berry in the quarterfinals.
Alessandro Junior had two goals and
Coleman Jennings had three assists on the night.
The first half started off slow with the Vikings only having four shots and the Panthers having five. A yellow card was given to the Panthers in the 16th minute of play and gave Berry an opportunity, but nothing came from it. The first goal of the game came unassisted by
Trey Hines in the 30th minute of play. The first half finished with Birmingham-Southern in the lead 1-0 over Berry.
Alessandro Junior started off the second half run with a goal in the 55th minute from
Coleman Jennings. This put the Panthers up 2-0, but it was not for long. Only 30 seconds later, Berry was able to make a run down and a goal came from Chris Barbieri to make it 2-1. The Panthers were not going to let the Vikings get away with that, so they returned with another goal themselves.
Alessandro Junior with his second goal and another assist from
Coleman Jennings put the Panthers up 3-1 over the Vikings in the 58th minute. To finish it off,
Coleman Jennings gave another great pass that turned into a goal for
Christian Hernandez in the 80th minute. The Panthers kept the Vikings to their one goal and finished with the 4-1 victory.
