PANTHERS EXPLODE FOR FOUR GOALS IN HOME OPENER

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team started their 2021 season off with a dominating 4-0 win over in-state rive Huntingdon College.

Elijah Mitchell opened up the scoring in the 2021 season for the Panthers in the 18th minute. After a loose ball was recovered by Mitchell in the box. Elijah rocket a shot to the right-side of the net beating the keeper and putting the panthers up 1-0. Mitchell scored the lone goal in the first half.

During the second half the flood gates opened for Birmingham-Southern. Coleman Jennings did what he does best and found the back of the net in the 62nd minute off a corner from Pirmin Blattmann. Up 2-0 the Panthers did not take their foot off the gas netting two more goals before it was all said and done.

Sean Meehan got in on the scoring in the 80th minute on an assist by Ryo Elliott. Blattmann then added to his already impressive game with a goal in the 83rd minute. The Panthers back line and goalkeeper hung on to claim their first clean sheet of the season.

Vinson's Words
His thoughts on the game: "This is always a huge battle with an in-state rival, it is always a fun way to start the, but also a tough way to start the season. We ask our boys to be relentless and I think they executed that. I had a lot of fun along the way."

On the forwards: "We got good production out of our front three and attacking-midfielders. Coleman Jennings continues to score goals for us, Elijah Mitchell scored the first goal of our season. Pirmin Blattmann with a goal and an assist. Just an excellent game out of that part of the field."

On Jake Hunt: "We absolutely love clean sheets, that's his job. He had a great game, made great decisions in the air with punches and catches in really wet conditions. He attacked the ball well his voice is always demanding and I am very proud of his effort tonight."
