Sewanee, Tenn. – The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team bounced back taking on Sewanee after falling to Centre earlier in the week. While it was a close battle, the Panthers held on and defeated the Tigers 113-105.
Both teams starting off hot scoring 20 points in the first quarter with Sewanee scoring one extra point more than BSC. The Panthers brought that energy plus some going into the second quarter outscoring the Tigers 34-20, leading the first half 59-45. Southern and Sewanee came out of halftime full of energy both putting up 25+ points in the third quarter. BSC continued to hold the lead in the fourth and ended with their first victory in the year 2022 and eighth on the season.
Brooke Westhoelter had another 20 point plus game recording 26 points in today's matchup. Westhoelter added on three rebounds and one steal.
McKenna Buckner dropped 16 points with the addition of three steals and one rebound.
Cassady Quintana and
Alex Lewis lead the Panthers in rebounds both recording six. Quintana added on 15 points.
