Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

PANTHERS SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team ended their postseason run in a tight match against #2 University of Chicago.

A great match looked to be ahead from kickoff with the Panthers going shot-for-shot with the Maroons in what they knew would be an uphill battle. This gave hope to the underdogs, but a flurry of opposing shots to end the first half did not bode well.

Coming out of the break, the Maroons quickly asserted themselves with a goal to put BSC on the ropes. They would not give in though, with Patrick Kelly sending up two quick shots.

The Panthers continued to wear down the opposition getting themselves in good position, but still unable to connect on a goal. In the meantime, a costly foul in the penalty box set up the Maroons to extend their lead to two, virtually sealing the win.

However, BSC did not get to this point by giving in to the pressure. A perfect pass from Will Pucek put Christian Hernandez in position to score and cut the lead in half. Unfortunately, time was simply not on the side of the Panthers as it expired before the comeback could be completed.
