ATLANTA - The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team fell 87-77 in a neutral site contest against Maryville College on Friday night.
Montana Harris led the Panthers with 20 points and seven rebounds in the loss while
Brooke Westhoelter posted 10 points, four rebounds and an assist.
Summer Killin hit double figures, doing so for the second time this season, as she finished with 10 points to go along with four boards.
Maryville was led by a pair of 20-point scorers in Ella Haney, who posted a game-high 26 points, and Courtney Carruthers, who ended the contest with 25 points, seven rebounds and seven assists.
Birmingham-Southern would lead through the first two quarters of play by a score of 48-47. Out of halftime it was Maryville would gain momentum and keep it as they outscored BSC three of the last four quarters.
BSC battled with Maryville down the stretch of the third quarter but it was the Scots that gained the advantage. Maryville held that lead for the remainder of the game. BSC would fall in their opening game of the Holiday Inn & Suites Classic 87-77
