SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team started the second half of their conference schedule with a victory over The University of the South. The victory starts their fourth straight win over the Tigers.
A strong first half propelled the Panthers to victory as they took a 15-point lead to halftime. The second half saw the Tigers fight back and get within two possessions of the Panthers. BSC was able to get stops and ultimately pulling away for another 15-plus point victory.
The Panthers were led by three double-figure scorers in Montana Harris, Brooke Westhoelter, and Sameera Elmasri. Harris put up 20 points, grabbed four boards, added three assists and five steals in the victory. Brooke Westhoelter had. A great second half to get her to double digits scoring 17 points, while also recording three assists. Elmasri has scored in double-figures in four of the past five games after putting up 10 in the win tonight.
The Tigers had three players record double-doubles in the loss. Kayla Antoine led in both points and rebounds recording a 30-point, 22-rebound game. Faith Humphrey also recorded a double-double after putting up 13 points and grabbing 10 boards. The final Tiger to record a double-double was Olivia Falvey. Falvey scored 12 and grabbed 11 rebounds.
What it means
With the win the Panthers are now tied for second in the conference with Rhodes and Berry and currently sit in a position to host at least the first round of the SAA Conference Tournament.
