SEWANEE, TN. – The #5 seeded Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team loses a very tight match at #4 seeded Sewanee.
Sewanee started the scoring off in the 6th minute of the game, with a goal from Tyler Scott assisted by Connor Dail. Tha Panthers out shot the Tigers 21-12, dominating the first half with nine shots to Sewanee's two.
Pirmin Blattmann led the Panthers with five shots, with three on goal. The 1st half ended with a 1-0 lead for Sewanee.
Back and forth action within the first 10 minutes of the second half showed many opportunities for both teams. Right away Sewanee had an opportunity that hit the post in just 45 seconds. BSC recorded a shot from
Trey Kirksey that was deflected out for a corner. in the 71st minute Vitorrio Vopicelli forced Sewannee goalkeeper Nathan Vanhoeve into a top corner save. With the time running out BSC goalkeeper
Jayden Schell came into the box for a last minute effort. The free kick came in from
Pirmin Blattmann, but was parried away by goalkeeper Nathan Vanhoeve. The final scored ended at 1-0 ending Birmingham-Southern's season.
