LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Birmingham-Southern men's tennis team started off the Transylvania Invitational with a 9-0 victory against Greenville University and a 7-2 win over Covenant College.
Match one: In doubles play, the No. 2 duo of Hallet Green and Sam Tolbert finished first with an 8-4 victory. Next to finish was the No. 3 pair Davis Eastham and Ryan Pearlman taking it 8-4 as well. Wil Dotson and Tanner DeBardelaben finished it off with an 8-6 victory to sweep doubles play.
Heading into singles play with a 3-0 lead, the Panthers continued their sweep and took all six singles matches. Hallet Green finished first on court one with 6-1 and 6-0 victories. Courts two, three, five and six all also finished in straight sets. Tom Smith took his opponent to extra sets with the last one ending in a 10-4 victory.

Match two: Birmingham-Southern earned two points in doubles play, coming from victories on courts two and three. The No. 3 duo of Ryan King and Tom Smith finished first with an 8-4 win. Hallet Green and Sam Tolbert earned the second point for BSC with an 8-6 victory.
The Panthers swept singles play with five out of six courts winning in straight sets. No.1 Hallet Green finished first with two 6-2 wins. Courts three, four and five all finished next in that order, with No. 2 Wil Dotson winning in a tiebreaker set 10-8.
