JACKSON, Miss. - The Panthers hung tough with the Majors, but were unable to finish the fight in the second half and fell in the first round of the SAA Conference Tournament 84-67.
Brooke Westhoelter led the Panthers with 16 points, four rebounds and two assists in the loss while
Montana Harris posted 12 points, five rebounds and an assist. Two other Panthers,
Lauryn Towns and
Lilly Hart, put up double digits in points in addition to five boards each.
Millsaps was led by Elyse Warren, who posted a double-double with 23 points and 14 rebounds. DeZarae Stewart was behind her with 15 points, seven rounds and an assist.
Birmingham-Southern would lead until through the first quarter until Millsaps hit a free throw to tie the game up at 14-14. The Panthers kept up their fight through the second quarter, not letting Millsaps get more than a four point lead for most of the quarter. With 33 seconds left in the first half, Millsaps added three to their score to push them out to a seven point lead. Out of halftime it was Millsaps would gain momentum and keep it as they outscored BSC three out of the four quarters.
BSC was down by 10 heading into the final quarter of the game, but were unable to close the gap and fell 84-67 in the quarterfinal round of the SAA Tournament.
