ROME, Ga. - The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team dropped their third straight game and now on the outside looking in on a hosting opportunity. In the quarterfinal round of the SAA Conference Tournament.
The Panthers were out rebounded and shot just 57 percent from the free throw line in the loss hindering their chances to pull off the victory. A late string of baskets got the Panthers within three of the Vikings, but were unable to complete the double-digit comeback victory.
The Panthers were led by a trio of double-figure scorers in Sameera Elmasri, Brooke Westhoelter, and Montana Harris. Elmsari put up 17 points, five rebounds and recorded four steals on the defensive end of the floor. Westhoelter scored 13, while also grabbing five rebounds and dishing out four assists. Harris scored in double-digits for a second consecutive game grabbing a team-high six rebounds.
Berry was also led by a trip of double-digit scorers. Elly Callahan led all scorers with 23 points and added 16 rebounds to earn a double-double. Kenadie Lee scored 19 and Sylvia Kahoro added 16 to the Viking's total as she rounds out the double-figure scorers.
What it means
With the loss BSC falls into a tie for fifth in the conference with Oglethorpe. The Panthers are a game back from a spot of hosting the SAA quarterfinal round of the conference tournament.
