MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team traveled to Memphis Tennesee for a huge SAA matchup.
Riding off a win over Hendrix on Friday the Panthers were right back at it on Sunday against Rhodes College. Rhodes shot out of a cannon with 28 1st quarter points only missing three total shots. The Lynx shot 11-14 from the field compared to 3-16 for the Panthers who scored just six points. A bucket by
Sheraton Foster ended an 11-3 Panther run to get back within striking distance of Rhodes.
Summer Killin and Foster combined for the final four baskets to end the half at 25-43. The Panthers improved their field goal percentage to 50% in the 3rd quarter to get back in the game.
Another scoring drought hit the Panthers in the third quarter because of the stingy Rhodes defense. The Lynx were flying all over the floor contested every single shot and only allowing a 27% opponent shooting night.
Sheraton Foster added six of the eight total points scored in the 3rd quarter. Rhodes outscored Birmingham-Southern 18-8. The final quarter brought only 21 total points and just two triples made. The game ended with a score of 70-45. Foster added 19 points and played all 40 minutes of the contest.
Maya Cable scored 18 points ad 7 rebounds.
