MEN'S TENNIS FALLS TO NATIONALLY RANKED N.C. WESLEYAN

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The Birmingham-Southern men's tennis team competed against their second straight nationally ranked opponent in North Carolina Wesleyan on Sunday. The Panthers were defeated 8-1 but played some promising tennis against the 26th ranked team in Division III.

The Battling Bishops took all three doubles matches, but the Panthers did not go down without a fight. No. 1 duo Hallet Green and Sam Tolbert won four games on their opponent while No. 2 duo Tom Smith and Ryan King won three games.

In singles matches, No. 6 Tom Smith was the lone winner on the day for the Panthers. Smith fell in the first set 6-1 but was dominant the rest of the day with 6-1 and 1-0 wins in sets two and three to earn the Panthers a win.
