BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - For the second straight match, the Birmingham-Southern women's tennis team defeats their opposition 6-1. This time, the Panthers triumph over Doane in their final match before conference play.
BSC won the first doubles match in the No. 3 position by default, so the Panthers needed only one of the two remaining matches to earn the doubles point on the day. No. 2 duo
Anna Cate Weeks/
Anna Marie Bentley then took control of their match with a 6-2 win to earn the doubles point. Looking for the sweep, No. 1 duo
Phoebe Shapard/Blakely went down to the wire. However, the pair played excellent tennis in the tiebreaker and ultimately earned a 7-5 win.
In singles, No. 3
Anna Marie Bentley was lights out with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep over her opponent. No. 4
Anna Beth Giles was also tremendous only allowing one game to her opponent in a 6-1, 6-0 win. No. 2
Anna Cate Weeks also played an impressive match with a 6-2, 6-3 win. In the final earned point for BSC, No. 5
Rici Stockl fought to the very end and came out victorious in the tiebreaker set 10-8 in an electrifying match.
