BSC DEFEATS #39 BERRY TO FINISH SECOND IN SAA REGULAR SEASON

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern men's tennis team clinched the #2 seed in the SAA tournament after their fifth consecutive conference win on Saturday.

In the final home tennis match at Birmingham-Southern, No. 2 duo Hallet Green/Sam Tolbert won their fifth straight match together with an 8-3 win to start the day. Berry then tied the score at one a piece with a win in the No. 1 doubles match. Needing a win to have the advantage in singles, No. 3 pair Ryan King/Ryan Pearlman headed to a tiebreaker. In a very tight match, the BSC duo came out on top with a 7-3 win in extra games to clinch a 2-1 win in doubles.

The Panthers fell in the No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches, but went four for four in the No. 1 through No. 4 positions. No. 2 Sam Tolbert won the first singles match for BSC with a comfortable 6-4, 6-1 victory. No. 1 Hallet Green then followed with an extremely close first set but a dominant set two for BSC's fourth point. To clinch the win on Senior Day, No. 4 Tanner DeBardelaben bounced back with a tiebreaker win after falling in set two 6-0.
