MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team picked up its second conference win of the season Friday night, blowing out Rhodes College on the road 94-64.
The win, one of BSC's most lopsided of the season, bumped the Panthers to 8-6 overall and 2-2 in the Southern Athletic Association this year.
Rhodes drew first blood to start the game, but Birmingham-Southern was quick to bounce back, taking the lead with 17:51 to play in the first half and never looking back. The largest BSC lead of the night was 40 points, which it hit with 6:16 remaining in the game.
The Panthers were led by freshman guard Evan Sigler (Franklin, Tenn./Franklin HS), who came off the bench to drop a game-high 24 points and six assists. His 24 points were also a career high.
Spence finished the game with 15 points, six rebounds and three assists, while Hollifield ended the night with 11 points, three assists and a steal.
Birmingham-Southern will remain on the road for its next game, an SAA matchup at Hendrix College on Sunday, Jan. 13. Tip off for the game between the Panthers and Warriors is set for 3 p.m. CT.
