ATLANTA – Birmingham-Southern men's basketball student-athlete Ben Spence (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) was named the Southern Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
The junior forward scored 34 points over two games at the Black Tie Classic this weekend. He had 12 points, three steals, seven rebounds, and seven assists in an 83-73 win over Huntingdon. Spence then scored a team-high 22 points and added seven rebounds in BSC's 90-85 win over LaGrange on Sunday. For the week, he shot 57% from the field and averaged 28 minutes.
This is the second straight week a BSC player has earned the weekly conference honor from the SAA.
Birmingham-Southern's next game will be at Covenant on Tuesday, Nov. 19. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
