Second-Half Comeback Puts Panthers Over Lions

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's lacrosse team defeated Piedmont College 12-10 at Krulak Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

After falling behind 5-1 to the Lions in the first quarter and trailing 7-3 at halftime, the Panthers stormed back in the second half to overtake the visitors.

BSC scored all six goals in the third quarter to take a 9-7 lead going into the final 15 minutes. The Panthers then kept pace with the Lions in the fourth, each team scoring three goals each.

BSC's second-half comeback was led by junior Taylor Carson (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook HS), who had three of nine goals in the final half hour.

Senior Peyton Taylor (Vestavia Hills, Ala./Vestavia Hills HS) was BSC's leading scorer in the match, scoring four total goals and adding an assist.

Defensively, junior Brett Martin (Douglasville, Ga./Keystone National HS) had a team-high three caused turnovers and senior goalie Matt Quill (Fort Mill, S.C./Coker College) recorded 13 saves in the win.

With the victory, the Panthers improve to 5-3 on the season.

Birmingham-Southern will travel to Macon, Ga., for its next game, a neutral-site contest against Nichols College on Sunday, March 17.
