He grew up in Madison, Alabama and is studying religion with a minor in biology, which he admits is a bit off the beaten path. “My dad wasn’t even supportive of it at first, but he’s come around now,” Schmidt said. The goal of this interesting combination of studies is to work as a humanitarian.
